Self Help For Panic Attacks – Tips to Overcome Your Panic Attacks
By Mark B
Panic Attacks can be characterized by a sudden onset of uncomfortable and terrifying symptoms coupled with thoughts that something bad is about to happen. The most common symptoms of panic attacks can include: rapid heartbeat, dizziness, difficulty in breathing, etc. The very first panic attack can occur anytime, anywhere and subsequent attacks can be equally unpredictable. Left untreated, sufferers can become traumatized by their experiences and may develop certain level of fear and phobia. They may hesitate to venture into public and become easily agitated and nervous.
In order to overcome your panic attacks you need to understand what is going on with your body. Many panic attack sufferers are dead convinced that something is wrong with them and they are going to die. This is false! Panic attacks will NEVER cause you to die or cause you to develop some unknown physical illness. This is the most important fact that you have to understand as a full recovery would not be possible if you still believe that something bad is happening to you. You need to stop pin-pointing a reason and cause for your symptoms – because there is none – there is only panic attack.
One way to deal with panic attacks is to try and focus on positive, rationale thoughts. Thoughts like “I feel like fainting”, “I am having a heart attack”, “I am going to lose control” does not help at all. Instead, they will only serve to worsen the panic symptoms. Put a stop to these thoughts and replace them with positive, rationale thoughts such as “These feelings are uncomfortable, but they won’t last forever”, “It is not a heart attack, it is just panic attack, I will be fine”, etc.
Do not be disheartened if you are finding it difficult to concentrate on these calming thoughts. This is a form of mental conditioning; as you keep practicing and trying, your brain with eventually accept these positive statements and you will find it easier to calm down.

Overcome Panic Attacks – Self Help Methods To Help You Control Fear And Anxiety
By Mark B
You can naturally overcome panic attacks by eliminating the one key element that is responsible for triggering anxiety and this article will help you confront this element so that you can begin to get reasonable relief from anxiety, phobias and depression.
Panic Anxiety Attacks often come out of the blue, unexpectedly. And the symptoms can be so frightening that they can often leave you paralyzed with fear. Your fear then begins to control you and your life and you try and avoid events, places, people and situations whenever you feel anxiety coming on. And it is this worry of another panic attack that heightens your already high levels of anxiety. And situations where you were more than capable of dealing with – prior to the attack – now can almost set off another anxiety attack.
It is this fear that you need to face and deal with in order to overcome panic attacks and anxiety. Unless you begin to eliminate this fear the vicious cycle of panic and anxiety will never stop. While some degree of fear is natural – I am referring to the kind of fear that can actually stop you from doing every day normal events such as driving or being in a public place. The fear that can set your heartbeat so fast you feel like you are dying.
You might have considered conventional medicine in your search for a way to overcome panic attacks and anxiety. The drugs used for panic and anxiety disorders are mainly in the form of anti-depressants and their purpose is to manage your frame of mind by controlling chemical reactions in your brain. They cannot control the “fear” in you and the fear of having another attack.
They are normally prescribed short term and some people will get the benefit of these drugs but they are not something that you can or want to depend on for the rest of your life — there are many dangerous side effects associated with them including addiction – they really are meant to work as a short term solution – while you deal with the element of fear, because you’ll be back at the start when you ultimately come off the drugs. (Note of warning: If you are currently on prescription medication for anxiety – do not come off it without first consulting your doctor – mainly because of the possible addiction issues and other possible health risks).
The real reason why some people can overcome panic attacks and anxiety naturally whereas others have to rely on antidepressants or other anxiety drugs to help them, is because these folks have successfully found a way to get rid of their fear of having another anxiety attack. They have faced their fear head on and cured themselves in the process. Once they had that “fear” under control they moved on to work on treating their general anxiety without any barriers.
I want you to imagine this..
Go and see if you can have an anxiety attack right this minute…. I know this may sound silly but see if you can make it happen. I bet you can’t, and the reason why is because you are dealing with your fear face-to-face by trying to trigger an attack. And in the process of it you are eliminating that fear.
When you’ve reached this position you have ultimately overcome your fear of another panic attack and have broken down this seemingly endless cycle of anxiety that dominated your everyday life and are now ready to get to work on eliminating your general anxiety for good. And you did it by yourself without any mind-numbing anti-depressants.
* Note *: This plan works extremely well… but it works much better when combined with the below course.

Panic Attacks- Self Help Methods To Overcome Panic And Anxiety Attacks
By: Gail Johnson
Posted: Jan 26, 2010
If you are looking for ways on how to best overcome panic attacks, your first step should be to get a proper diagnosis from a medical professional. Once you have been properly diagnosed you can then decide on your chosen method of treatment. The majority of people opt for self-help methods to help them overcome panic, anxiety or phobias rather than using mind numbing substances and drugs. Here are 3 things to help you overcome panic attacks without the use of dangerous and dependent drugs.
1 – Identify What Triggers The Anxiety Attack
These attacks are triggered when you have “above normal” anxiety levels. For some people that could mean – driving in traffic, shopping in large crowds, being stuck in an crowded elevator or even getting ready for an exam. What causes this anxiety – is the added stress element – which essentially can push your overboard.
Your mind sees this as “potentially” harmful and dangerous and sets about a series of chemical reactions in your mindset to help you “fight” or “flight” the situation. This is often called the “fight or flight” response which we all have instilled in us and helped us during earlier primeval times.

But in your in case – there was no threat or danger- except an increase in your anxiety levels but your brain doesn’t have time to investigate what is really going on – it just presumes the worst case scenario and sets off the “fight or flight” response. The chemical reactions your brain sends off, result in the symptoms you generally experience during a panic attack.
2 – Face your Panic Attacks Head on
You often hear this advice but what does it really mean? It means having a positive attitude when faced with a panic attack. This is another step towards helping you overcome panic attacks. During an attack, your mindset is in a negative state – by forcing and changing your mindset positively – you can shorten the attacks and the intensity of the symptoms. Anyone that has suffered an attack is only too aware of the difficulty of this task but those who have successfully managed this know that it can be done. By now you are fully aware that an anxiety attack cannot cause you any harm and you know what causes them. You have all the information to help you face your next attack head.
3 – Overcome Your Fear of Another Anxiety Attack
This is an essential step in helping you overcome panic attacks naturally. Do you recall learning how even a small increase in your stress levels on top of your existing high levels of anxiety triggered the “fight or flight” response causing you to experience the symptoms of a panic attack? Well your “fear” of experiencing another anxiety attack acts in a similar way.
Anyone who experiences panic attacks has a conscious or subconscious fear of another. And it is of little surprise that the symptoms are so frightening. This fear contributes to your already high levels of anxiety – which further increases the likelihood of bringing on another attack. Fear by itself and even worse – when combined by with an everyday stressful situation, can set off the body’s “fight or flight” response triggering a panic attack. This cycle must be broken in order for your to fully recover and overcome panic attacks.
